We are excited to have added a new weekly Saturday morning club ride entitled Easy Trails. It starts at 9.30am at the Zeppelin Hangar inside Farnborough Airport.
Each week the ride is circa 30k (involving two hours of riding) with a coffee stop at the end. The ride has been created to cater for those members who don’t want to ride on the roads, for those just starting out again following injury, those lacking their desired fitness or those who simply want to just stretch their legs again in a convivial club ride atmosphere .
It has been gaining in popularity ever since its launch in Spring 2022 with as many as a dozen or more joining the ride.
While the courses vary each week they are deliberately designed to use more of the flatter, wider, trails within the Minley, Hawley Lake and Fleet Pond areas to permit gravel bikes, hybrids, cycle-cross and mountain bike riders to enjoy the time together with occasional excursions to the more hilly Ash Ranges, Tunnel Hill, Caesar’s Camp and Porridge Pots areas to test our hill climbing and heart rates!
The typical pace is around 15kmh. As the group gets larger and fitter we may split the rides to allow for a faster pace sub-group ride, if the demand is there.
No one is left behind.
Further trails are in the pipeline so watch this space. The rides may increase both the length of ride and some may involve more arduous terrains (aimed more at the cyclo-cross and mountain bikes).
