FCCC CLUB ROAD BIKE ONLY 10m CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS HCC216a – THURSDAY 8 AUGUST AT 19.00HRS

Since last Thursday’s flash floods defeated our plans to run a TT, let’s try this again …

Our final Thursday night Club TT for 2024 is the FCCC 10 mile ROAD BIKE Club Championship on the 10 mile HCC216a course (follow this link for the course map https://www.plotaroute.com/route/198873), starting in Franklin Avenue, Hartley Wintney, on 8 August 2024 at 19:00

Club trophies are available for the fastest male, the fastest female, and the fastest veteran road bike rider for the annual championships incorporated into this club TT.

As per usual the club TT is open to members and non-members riding either TT or road bikes but only FCCC First Claim members riding ROAD BIKES in the event will be eligible for the road bike championships. It is the rider’s responsibility to check that they have a First Claim (senior/family) membership if they want to be eligible for a trophy, as opposed to Second Claim membership.

There are a few criteria that must be followed in order to be eligible for the road bike championships. Please note that these have changed this year to follow the CTT definition of a road bike, as illustrated in the attached graphic. In summary these criteria are as follows:

  • Drop bars or straight bars. No tri bars or clip-on bars or Spinaci bars
  • No disc wheels
  • Both front & rear wheels must have at least 12 spokes each
  • The maximum rim depth allowed is 90mm
  • Helmets must not cover the ears or have a tear drop/pointy style “tail”, any helmet vents must not be covered or blocked. The helmet must not have been altered or had any element added or removed in terms of design or form but may be used as the manufacturer intended (e.g., sliding vents). It is prohibited to add a detachable cover to a helmet. The composition of the helmet material and its surface condition are not subject to any regulations. However, additions to the helmet are not allowed (cover, tape etc.).
  • Competitors must predominantly ride holding the drops or brake hoods. Riders may not ride in the “Puppy Paws” position or simulate a tri-bar position by resting the forearms on the handlebars
  • And in case you’re wondering, racesuits/skinsuits are allowed.

Entrance is free to club members and £5 to non-members (payable at sign-on).

Sign-on is from 20 minutes prior to the start time and will close 5 minutes prior to the start time.

Riders are encouraged to park away from the start and then ride up to the start area.

Helmets, front lights and rear lights are now compulsory to participate in any TT event – make sure you have them all or you will not be able to ride.

CTT REGULATION 14(i) and 14(j): No competitor shall be permitted to start either a Type A or Type B event unless such competitor has affixed to their machine a working front white light and rear red light, either flashing or constant, that is illuminated and in a position that is clearly visible to other road users.

There is no pushing-off.

Results will be available on the night via the Resultsheet app. QR code attached below, or follow this link.
