The “Riding at FCCC” Workshop – a first for FCCC!

Our first workshop will be on Saturday March 18th at 1.30pm. It is free to our members.

Put it in your diaries now!

Together with Avanti Cycling and our friend Greg Woodford, we have developed a new workshop to bring our members together to meet one another and learn more about the Club – what we do and how we do it?

It is open to all members across all ride disciplines. Even though it was initially developed with new members in mind it would benefit from a mix of attendance across all the whole membership. We can all learn something from each other. It’s clear to me that many of of our existing members are not fully aware about what we offer or indeed the rules of the road or what we mean by the DIRT Trails. Some members are not even aware that we post rides and news on our own Website!

During the afternoon you will learn more about the club, the activities within it and how it all hangs together. More importantly we will talk about the pro and cons of group riding, the rules of the road and what the Highway Code truly prescribes for riding two abreast as well as many ideas on riding safely on our off-road trails.

With Greg being available you will have a great insight into the law affecting riding as well as his insights and tips for off-road riding skills given his work in the early development of the cycling code for Cycling UK and, in part, the British Cycling’s off-road guidance/rules. I’m sure with his expertise you’ll leave with a greater confidence in, and knowledge of, cycling generally.

We will discuss the rides we offer, what we expect from you and what you expect from FCCC as well as guide you through the training and plans we have for our membership for 2023 and beyond.

Every organisation is only as good as its people. With my goal in mind of “getting us all out riding together more regularly” this is a great place to start those deliberations.

Please come along and join us at the first of the meetings planned for 2023, for an informative afternoon on Saturday 18th March at 1.30pm . Tea and coffee will be provided and maybe an odd biscuit or slice of cake too!

This will likely be held at the Scout Hut in Yateley. More details of the actual venue will be provided nearer the time.

Although we will be a little more formalised than the gathering (shown in the picture below) by using a classroom style event it will still be a chance to catch up with some familiar faces at FCCC. 😎

Please write to me at chair@fccc.org.uk if you wish to join the workshop. Places will be offered on a first come first served basis.

Best regards to everyone,

Paul Hosemann (Chair)
