Announcement from the Chair
All
Following Laurie Pestana stepping down from the committee earlier this month I have been looking for someone new to work with me and the committee as the Club’s Women’s Ambassador.
As I wrote before this is a brand new position at FCCC, which is intended to be the ‘eyes and ears’ for women in the club to ensure, where necessary, you have a voice.
I’m delighted to say Laura Key has accepted the role.
Laura has been a member with FCCC for a couple of years now. She has recently moved back into the area hence her availability and willingness to get involved. She trained with the help of FCCC to become a qualified British Cycling Level 1 Coach, which she has recently completed.
She has been riding primarily with the mid-pace groups on both Saturdays and Sundays as she trains, with her partner, for riding LEJOG in 2023.
While living away from the area Laura has been a regular ride leader with the Woking Cycling Club so I’m pleased to say you’ll now see her posting rides at FCCC too.
Laura is also a very keen sportive rider who tells me she would love to set up some club sportive rides for both mixed and female teams. We know from the Club Survey that more of you would like to participate in sportives with FCCC so we hope this may encourage more people to do the club rides as part of your training and preparation for any forthcoming sportives/challenges you enter.
Please join me in welcoming Laura to her new role at FCCC.
