We were absolutely delighted and very proud to be able to celebrate club President Dick Poole’s 2019 milestone of 50 years membership of Farnborough & Camberley CC at our recent Club Night of the Year. An absolute gent who has supported the club in so many ways over the years, including roles of Chairman, Treasurer and Track Secretary. And as if that wasn’t enough, he has been unstinting in his support of local, regional and national cycling bodies.
This is the first year that we have recognised this remarkable achievement, which is unfortunately very regrettable in hindsight, given the rich history and similar contributions of both current and sadly departed club members.
So, in tandem with Dick’s award we have been very fortunate to be able to celebrate two other current members, Ron Taylor and John Wills, and to welcome them to the 50-year membership club. Ron and John have similarly been huge supporters of both the club and the wider cycling community, on and off the bike, over a remarkable period of time, and have put in huge efforts over those years.
We salute all three, for they are the true legends of club cycling.
