A number of current and potential members have expressed concerns that there have been no visible plans for faster club rides at weekends, other than occasional forum posts. After much discussion, the club committee has decided that we will plan and organise Saturday and Sunday training rides.
Aimed at riders training for Sportives and Audaxes and those just wanting to ride further and faster, the Sunday training group rides for 3-4 hours / 50-60 miles (sometimes further) on one of a number of courses starting at 9.00 on most Sundays. Speed is around 16 - 17 mph depending on distance and climbs, and any stop for refuelling is a short one, usually at the roadside. Mid-paced rides of around 45 miles at around 15mph are also planned for Saturday mornings, probably on the first and third Saturdays of each month.
A schedule of rides for the next 3-4 weeks will be maintained on the website here. We already have 3 volunteers to lead weekend training rides, and would welcome a few more in order to share the work. If anyone is interested in helping out once every few weeks, please contact Alan.
