Bike Rides for Women - British Cycling Breeze network

breeze

British Cycling (BC) has launched a programme whose aim is to get more women riding a bike. Breeze relies on a group of volunteer champions to make the programme happen, and are recruiting Breeze Champions across England over the next year. You don’t need to be a cycling expert - just need to be confident on your bike and keen to help others - they are looking for enthusiastic people to get involved in the Breeze network and inspire women to get more out of their bike, have fun with friends and get a recognised qualification at the same time.

To become a Breeze champion you'll take part in a one day ride leadership course, followed by a two hour workshop about the Breeze network where you'll have a chance to meet the Breeze team and other champions. The certificate qualifies you to independently plan, deliver and promote rides to groups of women.

In addition to free training, you will be provided with a Breeze kit, British Cycling Ride membership and plenty of support along the way. Furthermore, to ensure you're able to deliver safe bike rides, British Cycling will support you to gain a first aid qualification.

In return BC ask champions to lead on average 14 rides over the year to women in their local area. The next course in the South East is on the 15 October at Brighton Race Course, starting at 09.00 and finishing around 17.00. If you are interested or know someone who wants to find out more, then please contact Alan (who is the FCCC interface with BC) who has more information and can send the application form for the course.

Whilst acting as a Breeze Champion would mean quite a lot of work, as an alternative would any of our lady members be interesting in acting as "Ladies coordinator" for the club - perhaps planning and leading a smaller number of specific rides each year? Other club members would be happy to assist if required. Again, could anyone interested please contact Alan.
