Denise received the following from a member of another local club who use the Lasham Gliding club as a cafe stop:
Just to let you know that, further to an encounter at Lasham on Saturday, I feel I should let you know that in the interest of accomodating the kind hospitality of the gliding club, should our VC Godalming members visit we have been requested to do the following (I only mention this to point out that feelings run high, and we should consider their kind request based on a subsection of the gliding community's views):
(Actually, as an aside, whenever I'm up there I clear up my purchases to the tray return area, as we have been requested to do so in the past - one assumes that this is only because it's general practice there and serves to keep the costs down).
- Cyclists and the general public are welcome.
- Cyclists are respectfully requested to park bicycles against the wooden railings separating the private members' apron car parking from the cafe area (i.e. at the back of the grassed area behind the cafe).
- Please avoid parking cycles in the entranceway, on the patio area itself, and against the memorial/metal globe. It is not obvious that this metal globe is indeed a memorial to a recently departed and well respected glider pilot, whose widow still visits Lasham regularly.
