Club Member David Hutchins has emailed us with news that one of the Pyrenees stages of the TdF next year is routed close by the chalet on which FCCC members are offered discounts. If anyone is interested in the ideas suggested by David (see below) please contact him via their website, and also contact Liam who will help facilitate a FCCC group trip if a reasonable number of club members are interested. David writes:
"The start is easy to get to as are all of the intermediate features through to the stage finish at Foix on Sunday 15th July.
We are contemplating a 'pay by the head' arrangement for that stage to stay at the chalet. Before and after the stage we can arrange rides of varying levels of difficulty from noddy to severe. If we span two weeks with the stage in the middle, individuals can book for one week or two (Saturday to Saturday but any beds not being taken can be allocated to individuals on a day rate). Catering wise, we have a large bbq in the garden so we can use that in the evenings and I know where we can get local wine (Fitou, Corbierre etc) for about 1 Euro per bottle locally.
There is also a lot of space in the garden by the house and our field over the road for campers if required but they would have to use the facilities of the Chalet which I do not see as a problem. We need to work out a rate person by person but the idea is to make it affordable and to get a good crowd of cyclists. In addition to the tour there is much to see in the area and it is steeped in history. Also brilliant training for the Hill Climb Championship!"
