Gill Camp has just returned from riding in the Pyrenees. A year ago she was worried about hills.... now Gill writes:
"In June 2010, Stuart and I went to the Pyrenees with our bikes, mine stayed in the garage as I was too frightened to attempt the hills. On our return I joined the Wednesday club run, and that's where it started. Every Wednesday I would contemplate how I could meet up with the club without having to go up a hill. If I went via Hawley, there was Fernhill, if I went down Minley Rd, I had Cricket Hill, and then during the club run, Ron found plenty of other bigger and longer hills for me to huff and puff up, he even found one with my name on it (Camp Hill).
Our trip to the Pyrenees this year was a different story. My aim was to have a go at the Col d Aspin and if I struggled I could turn round and free wheel down. Well to my surprise I made it to the top, and not wanting to stop there I then did the Col d Soulour and the Col d Aubisque, two days later it was the Luz Ardiden, and then to top all that I achieved the Col d Tourmalet. Amazing!"
