As a track noob I can say yesterdays track day at Calshot was superb.
At first the prospect of just staying on such a steeply banked track was daunting, but Coach Nige built everyone up gradually until so it felt quite natural.
The safety side of things was well taken care of too. Many people wizzing round a banked track could end in tears, but everyone was well drilled in the do's & don'ts, so it didn't ever feel dangerous.
Hire bikes were in good nick & at £8 for the session, good VFM.

The flying laps at the end separated those with technique from those without & made a noob feel like more practice was needed.

A great day. Thanks to all involved.

Glad you enjoyed it John, i will be sending out details for the session on the 5th December over the next few days, but the basic idea is the session is for 4 hours and if i get enough interest it will be a split session, 1st 1.5 hours will be for novices then the next bit will be for people who feel they have enough left to carry on and the more experienced riders, the effort level will increase along with the technical level on the track, so if you want to attened please contact me, just one thing if you say you are coming then please turn up I had a few people pull out last time and i and the club can not afford the cost, as i have to pay up front,

saturday was the last Calshot of this block booking i did, 4 dates in all and i would like to thank all that turned up and joined in, we have aad a good turn out for this last session but i have had to get others to join in from other clubs, which is ok but i would like more FCCC guys and girls to give it a go,
Calshot are releasing dates in May for next autum/winter and i have been asked to book some more which i'm happy to do, the track at Calshot is fun and it makes good training for all levels so please support this and have some fun without getting wet outside,
thanks to all who have turned out and ride this year,

I would certainly recommend these sessions to anyone - they are great fun, as well as being good training sessions (and can be very welcome alternatives to battling inclement weather conditions during winter!) Nigel does a great job of getting newbies up onto the track (as he had to with me a couple of years ago when I went down to Calshot for my first ever 'boards' experience  ) and once you've conquered it its rather addictive :smoking:
It would be great to see a few other FCCC faces down there.
Thanks to Nigel for giving up his time to run these enjoyable training sessions,
DenC
