Mountain Bike Day by BoB
Thanks to Richard for advising me about a Berks on Bikes Open Day.
"The event will be held in Crowthorne on 20th July and will provide mountain bike fun for all the family as well as the most committed enthusiast. Rides, competitions, demonstrations and displays, even a complimentary snack!
We will have great new Bikes to look at from our local bike shops, a BBQ at lunch time and the opportunity to have a chat to members and find out what the club does and how we have contributed to the Moutain Biking Community over the years.

New Club Kit Delivery
Martin has had a delivery of kit. He has both pre-ordered items and some stock tops. He will be at the club night on 21st June.
If at all possible, please make an effort to get to the club night as
- Martin has a busy schedule over the next few weeks and it may be difficult to pick things up from him at home and
- His living room is cluttered up with a lot of kit!
Thanks.
Road Records Association
Thanks to Dick for his talk last week on the Road Records Association and what it does.
In checking the handbook (Dick has the club's copy), we found that Martyn and Steve Winter, members of the club (Martyn is still a member although out of the area these days), still hold the record for the Tandem 100 at 3hrs:20:45, set in 1990. They also held the 50 record at 1hr:32:40 from 1991, but the record was beaten by about 30 seconds in 1995.
(Congratulations also to Dick on his +1 :13 on the NHRC 10 mile TT recently in his first open event in 2 years. Nick Cosgreave also posted 24:48. The official results are not posted yet, the times were given to me by Dick who took them down from the board)
Go Green in Rushmoor
For the last few years, the club has attended the "Go Green in Rushmoor" event with rollers and bikes to allow youngsters to have some fun. It's on 7th September from 10:30 to 3:30. We've booked the place again, as the organisers are keen to get us there, but are still in need of a couple of volunteers with hatchback cars/van to get the kit there and (possibly others) to help with the event.
This year is particularly important as we are still recruiting for the junior section.
If you are able to help, please contact Bob.
2013 06 13 - Thursday Club Time Trials
A good field of our own club riders tonight. Pity Simon got a tad lost.
Gareth's Race Report for May 2013
Thanks to Gareth for another great report on his road racing in May!
Next Special Topic Club Evening - Techno gyms
At the next topic-based Club night on 5th July, Dick will be bringing the club's Technogym trainer system. We have one volunteer for a fitness test. If you are interested in being the second volunteer, contact Bob.
It takes around 30 minutes and you will need your own bike (no front wheel) and a towel. No TT bars!
(Second place now gone - do come along to see what's involved and we might be able to arrange another session in the future)
2013 06 06 - Thursday Club Time Trials
12 out and dry weather, although some wind.
Parity for Disability Sponsored Ride
Farnborough to Meudon
Parity for Disability's Farnborough to Meudon Sponsored Bike Ride is taking place this year between Thurs 5th - Sun 8th September and is an exciting event which will help support a vital local charity. The organisers say that this challenge will provide riders with an exhilarating journey through England and France, culminating in a 'hero's welcome' at Farnborough's twin town of Meudon.
If you are interested in taking part please see the attached document for more details. (You'll need to go here to see it, as downloads are not visible on the front page).
Please register your interest as soon as possible since the French side of the arrangements must be completed before they close down for the summer.
