|Welcome to the FCCC web site. The club caters for all cycling enthusiasts, from new riders through to those entering sportives, road races and time trials. For a very reasonable fee, members get access to a number of benefits, including discounts, reduced event costs and full access to the club forums, presentations and meetings and social events, in addition to a number of organised rides. There are social / novice rides on Wednesdays and Sundays plus a range of midweek and weekend training rides. We have a regular newsletter and you can subscribe even if you are not a member.||
Help Needed for Open TT
Ron needs two volunteers for kitchen duty at the TT. This is not a gender-specific role! The event is on Sunday 22nd December in the morning.
We ask all members to volunteer for at least one event during the year. Our records show that 184 of our 231 members have not yet volunteered, so if you are one of those, please contact Ron.
FCCC Annual Dinner - 18th January
The FCCC Annual Dinner and Prizegiving will be on Saturday the 18th January 2014, 7.00 for 7.30pm, at the Lismoyne hotel in Fleet. The event will be in a private function room with its own bar. There is parking at the hotel which is only a short walk from Fleet train station. The cost is £23.00 (reduced from last year) for a three-course meal. Further information on menu options is shown in the calendar.
Thanks to Kim and Stu for organising the excellent skittles evening. Great fun was had by all and there was enough food that there was some left! Thanks also to Terry for donating a good quantity of sports drinks and boosters that were given as prizes at the tyre changing and at the skittles evening.
I have put some more pictures in the gallery.
Tyre Changing Time Trial
A big thank you to everyone who took part in the Tyre Changing time trial at the club social on Friday 6th December. It was a great to see so many faces on the night and varied tactics. Congratulations to Keith S who won the competition with an impressive time of 2 minutes and 15 seconds.
Here's the table from the poster..
|Bob R||DQ||Broke the valve!|
|Martin||DQ||Pinched the tube and burst it on inflation|
|Martin||2:02||But only after application of talc to the tyre!|
A special thanks to Ron for providing extra tyres. Note for the future - take plenty of tubes!!!
New Web Store
We have installed some new software so that we can, eventually, order club kit online for collection at club nights. While we get this set up, we have set the shop up for GT85, inflators etc. You can order these online and then collect from Bob (at the moment) on club nights. Let him know if you see any 'funnies' (there's a menu item next to memberships if you are logged in as a club member). You can add comments for reviews of products on the shop.
Our new Social Sec, Kim, sent me this....
Christmas Party and Skittles Night
I am pleased to confirm that the Christmas skittles night has been booked for Saturday 7th December from 7pm. This year it will be held at the Anchor Pub, North Warnborough.
Please join us for a night of skittles fun and some Christmas cheer.
The price is £10 per person and that price includes a hot and cold buffet.
The number of places is limited, so to secure your place, please register on the website where payment can be made by Paypal. If you don't use Paypal, please register and contact me or Dick to arrange payment.
2013 11 09 - Saturday Club Time Trials
Good to see 13 out on a wet day.
Mudguards on group rides
(Mudguards are not considered "fashionable" but I liked the comment "since when is a brown muddy stripe up the middle of your back a fashion statement?")
Important - Own Food at Cafe Stops
One of our ride guides has had complaints from a cafe stop that FCCC members have taken their own food in. To add insult to injury, they have then left banana skins and wrappers for the cafe to clear up!
There is a real danger that the club might get banned from some stops, a facility we really value, so, in the interests of maintaining access for other members, if you do take your own food, please do not consume it in cafes.
