Farnborough & Camberley Cycling Club

Welcome!

Welcome to the FCCC web site. The club is growing and investing in new members, and caters for all cycling interest groups, from novices through to sportive riders. Club members compete successfully in road racing and time trials. For a very reasonable fee, members get access to a number of benefits, including discounts, reduced event costs and full access to the club forums and meetings,in addition to a number of organised rides. There are social / novice rides on Wednesdays and Sundays plus a range of weekend training rides and also ladies-only rides.

Club rides in snowy and icy weather

cycling snowman

It may be cold today, 2nd February, but It looks as though the weather will take a turn for the worse from Sunday 5th  and through the following week with snow, freezing rain and ice all featuring. The schedule of club rides may well be disrupted, so please keep an eye on the forums and if necessary contact the ride leader (linked in the rides lists).

One specific idea being considered is for the training ride on Sunday - if it is or has been snowing and there is a layer of snow on the main roads, the plan may be to meet at 9am at Speedys on MTBs to spend up to 3 hours mainly on the wider tracks in local forests.

Stay safe!

How far can you go?

I have created a new folder in the Gallery for pictures of club members with or on a bike in club kit as far from Farnborough as possible. Let's see where in the world the kit has got and can go!

Discounts for members at Farnborough Cycles

special offer

Farnborough Cycles, in the Kingsmead Shopping Centre, is under new ownership and are offering FCCC members a 10% discount on bikes, accessories spares and workshop labour.

Please see their website for contact details.

Helping out at Club TTs

tt pic 2It would be great if more members could help out on some of the events that the club organises. In addition to helping at the Open TTs (please contact Donald) and Road Races (contact Nigel) we would like to ask for volunteers to help at club Time Trials.

Initially we would like to have one person to help out at each of the 10mile HCC175 and 20km HCC257 events. Please see the list of TTs and also this article which links to details of courses and start points. Please email Alan if you can help out on at least one event this year, stating which event(s).  On the TT list we have added a column to keep track of volunteers. Thanks in advance.

We now have the confirmed dates for the club's TTs in 2012. They are now in the calendar - let me know if you see any 'funnies'. Note that £3.00 is the cost for non-members. Members are subsidised by £1.00 so the cost is £2.00.

If you are able to help, let Alan know and he'll add you to the list!

FCCC Christmas Open 10

copsandrobbers

This year's Christmas 10 was a great success despite the cold - and after the disappointment of cancellation last year. Many thanks to Ron Taylor for organising the event and to everyone who helped out on the day.

There were a good few examples of "interesting" fancy dress - the winners are pictured.

Thanks also to Andy Golden of Apex Imaging and Technology for providing the convict and cop photo for us to use. See the forums for a link to the full set of photos taken by Apex on the day, in addition to images of the results, including one picturing Ron in Christmas regalia :-)
