FCCC luminaries

altA search of the internet reveals a number of club members who have won various events over the years. Two current cub members have, however have achieved great things.

Dick Poole, current Club President, Treasurer & Track Secretary, was the first person to cycle from Land's End to John o'Groats in less than two days.

Nik Bowdler won the British Best All-Rounder (BBAR) award in both 2008 and 2009. (Picture is of Dick giving Nik an award!)

The BBAR award was also won by Frank Colden, of Camberley Wheelers, in 1962, with CWCC also winning the team award that same year. and again in 1963. Vince has recently spoken to Kevin Fairhead, who was one of those in the Wheelers in the 1960's and actually was one of the successful BBAR team members and has added further information -  Frank Colden also won the National 50 mile T.T  in 1962 in a competition record time. Showing some depth in numbers, club riders that year also took the 12 hour T.T. team prize in a record breaking time, and that was without Frank Colden. Frank actually crashed in that event and  a picture was published in the Cycling magazine of Gene comforting Frank beside the road.
